Climate AdaptionDigital TwinSeminar
Difu-Seminar in German | “Urban Digital Twins – Applications and Benefits for Climate Adaptation. Integrating digital tools as an opportunity?”
Join us: On September 16-17, 2025, the Difu seminar on Urban Digital Twins in Climate Adaptation will take place in Bremen.
Our Managing Director, Dr. Stefan Trometer, together with Dr. Björn Büter, Authorized Signatory of GEO-NET Umweltconsulting GmbH, Hannover, will deliver the presentation “Climate Twins: Accelerating Planning through Application in German Municipalities?”
Urban Digital Twins (UDTs) as Digital Planning Tools
Urban Digital Twins (UDTs) offer great potential for integrating climate adaptation aspects early in municipal planning and decision-making processes, thereby accelerating the transition toward climate-resilient cities.
By expanding UDTs to include climate-related dimensions, planners can access relevant information and simulation options for scenario testing at an early stage. At the same time, they help raise public awareness of the need for climate adaptation.
All spatial data relevant to climate adaptation can be integrated into a UDT and visualized in up to four dimensions, creating accessible representations for the general public. UDTs serve multiple functions, ranging from analytical tools for automated assessment of climate adaptation concerns and planning recommendations to advanced climate simulation instruments.
The seminar will introduce the fundamentals of UDTs, explore application possibilities, and present new approaches such as combining UDTs with other digital tools for climate adaptation.
The program will conclude with an excursion in Bremen, where participants can experience climate adaptation in practice and discuss the real-world applications of an Urban Digital Twin on site.
On Tuesday, September 16, 2025, at 1:45 p.m., our Managing Director Business Development, Dr. Stefan Trometer, together with Dr. Björn Büter, Authorized Signatory of GEO-NET Umweltconsulting GmbH, Hannover, will give a presentation on:
