Virtual City Systems, together with Bechtle AG, DKSR and Immovativ, supports the city of Freiburg in the implementation of the model project Smart City “DATEN:RAUM:FREIBURG”. Two use cases have been defined to demonstrate the prototypical structure of “DATEN:RAUM:FREIBURG”. Use case 1 comprises the development of an area-wide collection of traffic data (term live data traffic). Use case 2 the digital marketing of plots of land in the Dietenbach residential quarter, which is to be newly built (designation Digital Marketing Platform).

The contribution of VCS includes the following points:

• Further development of the existing 3D city model platform
• Linking the 3D city model with DKSR’s UrbanPulse data platform for live traffic and IoT data
• Preparation and visualization of live traffic data in the VC Map in 2D and 3D and integration into a dashboard based on Grafana
• Database queries and visualization on historical traffic situations via a special extension of the VC Map
• Integration of the VC Map into the prototype of the marketing platform for the visualization of construction contracts
• Use of geodata and planning data via OGC-compliant services of the geodata service

The result is two working prototypes for the two use cases with the VC Map as the central component.
