Digital Twins in Europe: Insights into the European Commission’s report
VCS projects in the report: TwinBy, DUET, Freiburg, Rotterdam and many more
Virtual City Systems is delighted to be recognized for our contributions to the development of Digital Twins and Smart Cities as described in the European Commission’s report.
The report highlights the European Union’s strategic framework, which includes initiatives such as the digital transformation, shared data spaces and the European Green Deal. These initiatives are central to shaping the landscape for Local Digital Twins (LDTs) across Europe. LDTs serve as virtual representations of physical assets and communities and enable evidence-based decision-making processes.
The report highlights the differences in investment and maturity of European cities and municipalities in the use of LDTs. To achieve interoperability and openness in the LDT ecosystem and thus promote sustainable urban development across Europe, collaboration between stakeholders is essential.
