BUOLUS
Building physics design of urban surfaces for sustainable quality of life and environment in cities
Urban surfaces of settlements, buildings and of green and circulation areas have specific effects on building physics. The BUOLUS project uses an integrated approach to evaluate and develop the potential of these effects. The focus is on examining urban surfaces in relation to affecting climate and hygro-thermal characteristics, air quality as well as lighting and noise control.

About the project
The research and development project BUOLUS is focused on the application field of building physics use of urban surfaces. Virtual City Systems contributes expertise and know-how to master the diverse and complex challenges of implementing holistic approaches.
Existing solutions for the construction, administration, publication and application of semantic 3D city model platforms are aligned to the special needs for the building-physical evaluation of urban surfaces. The solution results are exemplarily implemented, tested, validated and documented.
The main content areas “Modeling & Simulation” and “Communication & Participation” based on semantic 3D city model platforms serve the project to develop action aids and planning tools.
