Bremen is pursuing an ambitious climate protection strategy and is also taking advantage of the opportunities offered by the Digital Twin of its city area.

After only recently integrating the solar potential calculation for the urban area into the 3D city model, the State Office of Geoinformation Bremen is now using the Digital Twin for detailed simulations of the microclimate.

The analyses focus in particular on urban heat islands, which can lead to problematic situations for people and the environment, especially in an urban context.

In its current issue, the periodical BUSINESS GEOMATICS reports on the findings regarding the interactions between buildings, greenery, soil properties and the surrounding climate.
